KGK Jet, a leading manufacturer of industrial inkjet printers and marking systems, has its own ink research and development centre (R&D) in Japan. This facility focuses on advanced ink development for Continuous Inkjet (CIJ) and Drop-on-Demand (DOD) printing technologies, developing specialized inks, and enhancing the performance of their printing systems.
KGK Jet ink research and development centre has created a range of specialized inks for various industries and applications. Some notable developments include:
These inks are designed to glow under UV light, making them ideal for security printing and product authentication. Fluorescent inks provide visibility in dark environments using ultra violet light (365nm).
Well-suited for plastic, metal & glass substrates for automotive part marking, personal care, pharmaceutical, mobile phone parts serialization and track and trace solutions.
Typical print inspection systems can detect fluorescent markings and capture them on high-speed production lines using 365 nm UV lamps.
Edible inks are specially formulated to be safe for consumption, used in the food & pharmaceutical industry for coding & branding. These inks meet food safety standards to be printed directly on food items. Some of the edible inks listed blow
CP205 White & CP602 Black composed solely of food additives that have been extremely safe and can be printed directly on fruits.
CN105 Green edible ink for coding on eggs, that have been approved by FDA (U.S. Food and Drug Administration). Printing can withstand boiling temperature will not fade or peel-off. Composed solely of food additives, good visibility on both brown and white eggs.
CN701 Red composed solely of food additives that have been approved by FDA (U.S. Food and Drug Administration) compliant edible ink. Extremely safe, and can be printed directly on food products.
CP109 Ink on food packaging used, where products undergo high-temperature processes, such as sterilization, up to 120°C. This ink is engineered to endure these temperatures without peeling off, transferring, or losing its integrity.
Its resistance to heat makes it ideal for applications where the packaging needs to be heated along with the food, ensuring that labels, branding, and critical information like expiration dates remain legible and intact after exposure to high heat
CP244 Pigment ink for ceramic substrate marking & coding is designed to maintain its colour and adhesion even under extreme conditions, such as high temperatures. In this case, the ink is formulated to withstand baking at 900°C for 1 hour without fading or peeling off.
CP240 inks are specialized inks formulated to be free of chlorine, bromine, and chromium, which are considered harmful halogens and heavy metals. The absence of these elements is crucial, particularly in the cable and wire industries.
These industries require materials that, in the event of a fire, will not emit toxic fumes, which can be dangerous to both human health and the environment. By using CP240 inks, companies can ensure that their products are more environment friendly and safe for use in fire-prone settings, contributing to safer work and living environments.
These inks contain nanoparticles of metals like silver or copper, which offer excellent conductivity. Any circuit can be created using metal nanoparticle ink on a substrate that can withstand the ink's baking temperature.
Making them suitable for use in printed electronics, flexible wiring technology, solar cell products, organic electroluminescence displays, digital signage, electronic paper, sensor technology, and healthcare technology.
These Drop on Demand inks are designed to cure quickly when exposed to ultraviolet (UV) light, making them ideal for applications requiring fast drying times, such as ink printing on packaging materials or surfaces where quick processing is essential.
